New year, new great recommendations. Today, we want to suggest reading Conscious Capitalism, written by John
Mackey, co-CEO of Whole Foods Market, and Raj Sisodia, professor of Global Business and published by Harvard Business Review Press in 2013.
Just like humans need red blood cells to live, companies need positive business outcomes to survive, but, is that one their only purpose? Firms need other reasons to be activated and motivated, to inspire trust to their stakeholders and live out a higher purpose, which will guide their behaviour.
John Quincy Adams, the sixth president of the United States, once stated: “If your actions inspire others to dream more, learn more, do more and become more, you are a leader”. For the founders of Conscious Capitalism, this idea has become a true movement in the USA, creating a whole community, which defends that leaders are those who implement their emotional and spiritual intelligence to care about the society where their organizations operate.
